I would say the one you are most proficient at. You need to be able to put in plenty of metres and at a high intensity, there's no point in saying fly if you can't really swim fly for more than a few hundred metres.

What stoke are you able to do?

Front crawl prob be the best for all round fitness as you can do greater distance with this stoke.
Butterfly for shear strength and calories burning, but it is very hard to hold any distance on this stoke as it’s basically all or nothing!!

swimming would not be known for its ability to burn fat, it's great for cardiovascular fitness, flexibility and toning all over the body but something like running would be much better for losing weight, maybe a mix of running and swimming to get you in the shape you'd like.

Bloody hell, cant imagine the pain. I would be in bits after 200m. I think butterfly is very hard to do it "easy", takes so much efford to get the body out of the water.
