    Lads,

Planning on getting fit or start doing some sort of activities to help me get fit.
I am pretty useless when it comes to going to the gym by myself as I find it too boring and don't push myself enough....
I work evening mon-fri so most things like 5 a-side soccer or martial arts are in the evenings during the week so couldnt go....
Is there anything that takes place like running or soccer or some kind of fitness based activities during the morning or early afternoon in the city...
Is there stuff going on at the weekends either....
    Any information will be great....

    Thanks,

We have a dedicated fitness forum where Galwegians also post so I'll bump this over there.
Perhaps you can elaborate on what you've done before and enjoyed?
There is yoga in the mornings Tuesdays and Thursdays on Tuam Rd if that suits?

If you're interested in playing five a side soccer try giving Drom or Mervue a call. They would be able to give you more information on what goes on during the day.

The GAA clubs usually have "junior" football/hurling teams that practice in the weekends.
"Junior" can be any age but is the people that play more for fun than serious competition.

With regards the GAA club I probably would have to get a transfer but not sure as I haven't played since Minor....
Basically I would rather get involved in some sort of sports where im not the one making my own schedule and trying to push myself...
I don't really like the gym as to be fair its boring and I give into myself a bit too easy.
    Open to any suggestions....
Not too sure about hot yoga as I be afraid I would be the only lad there and would that also help ya burn off a bit of the extra winter layer...

Treat that as a positive if its true but it rarely is.
depends on the class, it changes day by day and week by week.
I was the only lad in class last night, but there 6 lads out of 14 in the class on saturday morning

It's a workout, and therefore calorific expenditure.
If you "burn" more calories than you consume, then you;re winning the battle against ned kelly

Giving some thought, how far out the Tuam Road is it?
Within walking distance from the city centre?

    It's not that far out.
Do you know where Galway City Gym is on the Tuam Road?
Its on the other side of the road in a studio upstairs.
