in honour of Beasts of War's http://www.beastsofwar.com/ Infinity week (which is today till Friday), Corvus Belli have put up army bundles for each faction at half price, just until midnight friday/saturday.

The bundles consist of the faction starter box, plus something big like a TAG or some motor bikers, plus another useful model or two.

It's on the new version of their website that they've launched over the weekend

I'm a bit torn about advertising this as I'd always rather people buy from Martin - especially as he's selling at a good price imo. But it's an exceptional offer, very short term, limited to the models in those specific bundles, and I think it might interest some people who wouldn't have bought otherwise, and who might then buy some minis from Martin.

Beasts of War will be dedicating this week to Infinity - reviews, tutorials, I dunno what else, and they're producing their own quick start rules for Infinity I think - based on a teaser video they released.

    The first video is up

It's a video tutorial of the quick start rules. Teaching you how to play a cut-down version of the full rules.

Was always intrigued by this game and the lovely models. With this excellent offer I might have to dip into the budget and pick up some bits. I'm thinking of getting the Rulebooks, Panoceania and the Ariadne factions.

    Any comments or recommendations otherwise?

Not really. The rules/army lists are freely downloadable but I still like having the books for the fluff/art and because it's much nicer imo to read a book than a pdf.

I'd suggest picking whatever factions you like the look of the models. They're very well balanced and you can do the same sort of things with all of them, except that different factions can do more extreme versions of things - such as Ariadna can do an all camo army, or Yu Jing get more, and cheaper, heavy infantry than anybody else.

Haqqislam get more light infantry than others - though ariadna has a lot too.
PanO have the best shooting, but the worst willpower (doctors, hackers, engineers).
Nomads do electronic warfare better than anybody.
Aleph have bots instead of troopers, and are very high tech/expensive.
Combined Armies have the most elite troops but you can field less of them typically, or have to balance them with some grunts due to points constraints.

Really though, you can do any of those 'specialities' I've listed above with any of the factions, just not as well. With one exception that I can think of - Ariadna have no hackers at all, so while they can't do electronic warfare, they're also immune to it.

Picked myself up some rulebooks and a couple of army packs.

I look forward to giving this game a try.

For Pan Oceania, pick up the starter, this will give you a few grunts (fusiliers) an Orc trooper (heavy infantry, pretty good, can take a good punch) and a croc man (infiltrator -ish)

To fill out the team pick up a trauma Doc, and some extra fusiliers.

You will also need a hacker (these guys can shut down heavy inf and TAGs (big robot things) - fusiliers are cheap, bagh mari are better.

Have a look at the army list before buying more.

The Swiss Guard with rocket launcher is extremely tough. Expensive, points wise but he is nasty and will vaporise lots of your opponents.

The Akalis makes a good Lieutenant and the Bagh Mari are good medium priced troops

The Cutter TAG is a beautiful model and will make a mess of your enemy.

If you're going PanO, don't bother with the trauma doc-she's rubbish purely because of her crap will power. If you want a doctor, splash out for a hospitaller doctor with a palbot, much more useful all round.
