right, i'm cracking this right down to earth for you.
Im driving a 94 corolla atm

argueably the most reliable mid range car of the last 20 years.
Il be driving to college and work which is both in town so no real long distance driving

so there's no real need to switch to diesel. the tax alone on the bora is twice as expensive as the corolla, so you will need to save at least 300 quids worth of fuel (approx 4-5 full tanks) before you even begin to break even on fuel and tax costings.
My fathers corolla d4d is a miser on diesel so im looking to avoid a petrol

my dads 1.4 diesel polo is making around the same mpg as my old 1.0 k12 micra, so petrol isin't neccessarily something you need to avoid like the plague. small petrol engines are still very efficient.
Id like a bit more "umph" than my 1.3 and this bora looks to fit the bill.

im not sure on exact models of either the corolla or the bora, but some of the 4E-FE corollas were bordering on 90bhp, as were the bottom spec bora's, so bar the diesels superior torque, the cars will be pretty similar.
    She looks mint too!

    could you define 'mint'?
    What do ye think?

i think its a calcutta spec VW boring, wearing oversized alloys which will be sapping what 'power' it has. i think it looks like a bottom spec model (though i'm no VW expert), yet he has it badged as a red T, red D, red I, which i'm certain it is not.

and 3.5k for a ten year old, bottom spec VW bora heading for 120k miles with no mention of tax or test isin't much of a bargain really.
    has never being abused

his spelling is questionable and his statement is up for debate too.

having said all that, i'm all on for 'you only live once', so that rule over rides all the above. so if you have the cash and you want it, then by all means go for it :) just think hard on it for a little while and make sure its really what you want. 3500 euro buys you a lot of car these days and you may very well stumble upon something you like even more. (i say that based on the fact that i think your aged 20, like me)
