guys, lets not go completely full circle, and have a thread discussing the discussion of threads....

I'm not going to start saying for or against. A mod has made a call, I'm happy to follow it.

So.... News... How about that RPK74? yay or ney?

god no..it's a fugly gun...in fact I hate all the AK series of guns...all fugly..deadly but fugly

personal taste I suppose. I see the 'beauty' in thier functionality... they are different, I'll say, but in a way, similar. Easy as heck to use, and rather long barrels for the size. The RPK is.... clunky yes, but its got a class to it.. Very much the same lines as the l86 and h bar etc in lines of LSWs. Now a PKM i'd have to disagree with you on.. thats a beast :D

actually forgot about the PKM...now that's a nice looking one alright...it's not the usual AK shape which is why I like it I suppose...

ok..so we now know the AK is a fugly gun...what's the best looking? :) M4A1 is my call..

*rolls eyes* m4 am best gnu! ak am best gnu!

Technically on airsoft terms, the AK is a far better system out of the box should we take an average. Better hop, better mags, longer barrel, better irons. But this isnt an ak vs m4 topic, I like both myself.... so i cant really argue... I have an m16, an m4, and an AK.... each serves a DIFFERENT purpose.

    Best gun? :D Sa80 :D *runs*

Have to admit I do have a soft spot for the SA80. It was my weapon of choice back in Rainbow 6 : Raven Shield, not sure why, I just something about it. Sadly I haven't gotten an airsoft version....yet.

    What makes you say that?

Is it based purely on one moderators reaction to some gobsh1tes reported posts?

If that's it then you are completely wrong, we don't need a sub-thread to discuss another thread.

It doesn't work for reviews, it will work even less here, clicking back and forth between two threads, back and forth through their respective pages, trying to figure out who's talking about what news item by reading the dates and times of posts and all the confusion of people trying to clarify same.

Tell me I'm wrong and why I'm wrong that that is a terrible idea and just more f*cking meddling for meddling's sake.

Wouldn't it be great if the news and its discussion were in one easily navigated thread, with posts and replies in chronological order, oh wait...

No, not really - another 'general' thread is absolutely not what's needed.

The news thread has a purpose - so people can keep abreast of new things that are related to Airsoft without having to filter through pages of waffle.

If you spot something that you think needs talking about or you want to find out others opinions of it then you start a thread on that particular item. You can post a link in the news thread, that way it's all nice and clean and easy to find stuff.
Is it based purely on one moderators reaction to some gobsh1tes reported posts?
And you know that for sure?
Exactly how many times has the news thread been reported for going off topic in the last two months?
Why is someone who reports a post deemed to be a gobsh1te?

I'm guessing you can't actually answer any of that and so you're just attempting to troll. Please do not continue on that tack.
If that's it then you are completely wrong, we don't need a sub-thread to discuss another thread.
    I agree as stated above.
It doesn't work for reviews, it will work even less here, clicking back and forth between two threads, back and forth through their respective pages, trying to figure out who's talking about what news item by reading the dates and times of posts and all the confusion of people trying to clarify same.
What you said there is exactly what's wrong with the current system.
Tell me I'm wrong and why I'm wrong that that is a terrible idea and just more f*cking meddling for meddling's sake.
You're wrong - you obviously don't like changes or something, I dunno. I also will not entertain any further comments like that.
Wouldn't it be great if the news and its discussion were in one easily navigated thread, with posts and replies in chronological order, oh wait...
Yes it would - that isn't the case now so I'm attempting to improve that.

If you want to discuss this maturely then I'm all ears - if you want to continue like a spoiled child who has just had their rattle taken away then I won't entertain any point of view you have on this.

Not to wade into a potential re-enactment of the Battle of Midway here, but I'm reasonably sure (by memory) that O1s1n covered this exact topic in the Airsoft News thread quite a while ago (at least a year back, I think).
There was a hiatus on commentary in exactly the same way and, after some consultation and deliberation, the decision to have a "news-only" thread was recinded in favour of the more banter like one as it exists now, with a caveat in there being a degree of common sense (no fifteen post long tennis-discussions on one topic, arguments etc).
The general belief of the threads users is that, while one person may post a news item, two or three more may have snippets of info or a question about it.

An odd "Back on topic" nudge is really all that's needed if the conversational posts start to build on one item.

    <sniping removed as I didn't even read it>

And tell me steve, how many posts get reported for being good? Oh wait they cant be, they can only be moaned about. Why even suggest a change to the style of the forum if you can only have one perspective on it by default, reported posts. And they are gobsh*tes because they are looking for news without discussion, on a discussion forum, when the news is well catered to elsewhere. If they actually posted publicly about their opinions we could discuss the matter, rather than tattling tales via the report post function.

Why do you drag it down to a personal level, calling me a troll? I care more about this forum than you, I care more about airsoft than you and I have made my opinion known, you are getting angsty over ego and authority, I actually give a damn about this place. o1s1n ruled on this matter in the past, I gave a damn back then too and he made the right decision.

I hadn't read the reaction in the news thread when I posted that - I'll go with the wishes of the community here, can't say fairer than that. :)

    Please continue the topic here.
