To eat, or not to eat, that is the question...

So, about a week and a half ago I spotted a muffin in the bottom drawer of the fridge. Ahhh, blueberry, feckin delish, but it wasn't mine, so I left it there...

About a week later, it's still there, untouched...so it crosses my mind that the statute of unclaimed glory may be coming in to play, but I still didn't touch it, and thought I'd give it's rightful owner a little more time...

This morning, she's still sitting there, staring up at me, looks like she's winking in certain light, so I said, it's mine, you snooze you lose.

Now, it's a cold fridge, and especially down the bottom, so it's good at keeping things fresh and in good condition....just want you to bare that in mind...

So I swiped it, and brought it up to my room to be eaten with a cup of coffee in criminal secrecy, when I opened it and JUST prior to wrapping my lips around it's luscious goodness, I noticed a spar sticker on it saying "28 . 1"

Now, I'm no food labeling specialist, but on further investigation on the shredded and hastily opened wrapper, there is no expiry date on the actual plastic wrapper.

Is this some sort of hidden clue that a terminally ill man working in Spar may have left me? Something Dan Brown would start documenting and possibly ask a blond to drive him around Paris in a smart car whilst doing so?

It looks ok. It's still moist, and there's no mold, but maybe a little bit too moist?

My coffee is going cold. Who keeps muffins in a fridge? What's the cut off point for eating food out of date? And surely refrigeration adds a certain life span that could be otherwise unexpected. And are these people in Hollywood paying hundreds of thousands if not MILLIONS to have their head chopped off and frozen so that it can one day be attached to a robotic torso with all sorts of abilities that peasants like you or I could only dream of, possibly flight and a vice like grip can be achieved by these futuristic android / human hybrids, being ripped off?? ... isn't science on my side? Should I eat the muffin?

I know we're not supposed to give medical advice but from the information you have provided I can safely say, without a shadow of a doubt, that it won't kill you unless you have some underlying medical condition.

Eat the muffin, it's gods will.

Cut it in half, if it smells ok and has reasonably good structure eat it.

At least if you die the priest can read out your epitaph.

" [Jackass] he died doing what he loved. Eating out of date muffin"

Reclaim dominance over the muffin by throwing it out, buying a new one and eating that instead. It will also serve as a lesson to all the other muffins that think you're sentimental when it comes to your doughy desserts.

B-b-but it's not your muffin! How can you possibly eat it? You are a thief sir, and a brigand (what is a brigand?)
If you eat that muffin you'll never have the good of it - ill got, ill goes etc etc:D

that muffin is going to suck.

When you home-bake muffins if they arent eaten within a day they are not that good. Store-bought after 2 months? Eh, **** that. I doubt it will kill you, it will just taste like crap.

I say eat it and you can then start a thread in around 6 hrs, with an equally long and descriptive post detailing the severe cramps, vomiting and diarrhea you now have.... :-O
