    Hi

Is it possible to do an apprenticeship as a helicopter engineer as opposed to aircraft engineer trianeeship in Shannon Aero Space.

If so are there any companys in Ireland or the Uk which would offer this.

    All comments would be appreciated.

no its the practical experience is what you need really, the module exams is the least of your worries,i know a few years back there was a helicoptor apprentice in the apprentice class a few years back with all the ryanair, cityjet lads, however its rare, try some of those north sea companies in aberdeen!! or hold tough and do an airline apprenticeship with a look to crossing over after a few years

Not an apprenticeship as such but my brother studied at the City of Bristol college, aircraft engineer. A great deal of his on the job training was on helicopters. Powerline inspections helicopters, later he spent time in Aberdeen on the North sea helicopters. There isn't a great deal of difference for Engineers. The training is pretty much the same. Any aircraft engineering course cover helicopters as much as fixed wing. It's not like pilot training where everything is different.
