Hello all hope someone can answer what must be a fairly standard question. I have a 1980 landcrusier but im not sure what i need to legally drive it on the road. I have insurance will have tax when logbook arrives. What i dont know is weather i need an nct or doe.
Its an import not sure what difference that makes.
    Thanks in advance

Couple of things..you have insurance..what did you insure it as..private or commercial..if its private it will need private tax and an NCT , commercial you'll need a DOE AND proof of registration with the revenue..is it a new import or has it been registered here already ?...if already reg. , is it commercial or private..?..you should already know if its been registered as comm or private...

TAX...you get the tax and THEN you get the logbook.... i imagine you have the document given out on re-registration?

Just slightly too new to be exempt from testing then. If the vehicle is a passenger vehicle it will have to be NCT'd. If it's registered as a commercial it will need a DOE even if you tax it vintage. There is a bit of a loophole that a privately taxed commercial doesn't need to display a test cert but all DOE stations have been told to test them.

Which model 'cruiser is it? The crew over on the 4x4 forum will be keen to see piccies. http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/forumdisplay.php?f=1068
