Me and the Gf were in a carpark last sunday evening trying to learn to drive, very basic stuff. Then a security guy comes up and tells us to leave. Fair enough, they dont want people doing that, so we left. But we couldnt think of any other place with enough space to actually get out of second gear near by. So there has been no learning since then.

We have been in quiet housing estates before, but we're using a different car now and we need someplace void of other cars to get the feel of the accelerator etc.. We're in south county dublin, any ideas?

My instructor took me up loads of places around citywest and knocklyon, there are empty roads and stuff down there especially weekends

If there are any industrial estates nearby they're always good. Sorry I don't know the area well so can't recommend particular places. Just know that security in industrial estates near me are really nice to learner drivers & there's always a few around of a Sunday morning.

JFK Ind. Est. is a good place to learn. Where I was taught by my dad. Quiet enough on the weekends. There varying layouts with a few roundabouts and little car parks for reversing and stuff.

However, one evening during the week (5 yrs ago) secruity guard came up and warned us that the boy racers would be starting up in 30 mins so we might want to wrap it up. Not sure if they still use it, but if they do I think it the evenings.

Maybe i just bumped into a bollocks. How are people supposed to learn? The carpark was empty!

Thanks for the replies folks. We will just try a few other spots i think.
