Gospel Rising is a fun, energetic and inclusive gospel music festival of workshops and gigs showcasing Ireland’s many gospel music styles. Whether you enjoy playing or singing gospel music in a choir or in the shower, this is the opportunity to experience gospel music, network gospel resources and forge friendships over a jam-packed weekend. Following its very successful launch in Ennis in 2010, Gospel Rising is taking place from the 6th to 8th May this year in Portlaoise.
Full details are available at www.gospelrising.com

I performed at the Rising last year.

I'm in the Celbridge and Straffan Gospel Choir so we were invited.

But I would certaily recommend it, its a great event full of fun.

I won't be there this year because of the Leaving Cert so maybe next year.

Let’s go down to Gospel Rising

Gospel Rising Music Festival 2011 6th – 8th May Portlaoise

Workshops and booking are now available on our website www.gospelrising.com

We have been working hard getting a great line up of workshops prepared for you, by looking back on what worked last year, feedback received and of course what’s new for the Irish gospel music scene.
We have some new facilitators this year, and are bringing back some of last years greats, as requested by you.

Nicki Browne will come back from London to run the very successful Band workshop, but this year it will run all day!
Eimear Crehan (Director of Maynooth Gospel Choir) will be back to get people singing solo for the first time and to help build that confidence needed to sing out loud into a microphone.
Mark De-Lisser (Director of ACM Gospel Choir, UK) and Roisin Dexter (Director of Discovery Gospel Choir) will lead more advanced soloist workshops.
Places are especially limited for these workshops so that each participant getsenough focus, have a good look at the details on the website, we have repeating workshop sessions, and so hopefully you can select exactly the range of classes you want for the Saturday sessions.

Other workshops include a technical workshop on getting your music out there, choral workshops on New Gospel (Mark De-Lisser from the UK) and Old Style Southern Gospel (Aisling & Mairead Valley Gospel Singers) and of course choreography, this time focusing on African style movement.

So have a good read through the Gospel Rising Website and book soon to be sure you can attend your favourite workshops. You book by paying a €30 deposit for the €50 all weekend ticket.
This gives you access to all events and workshops on Friday night, Saturday and Sunday afternoon.
Whether you are booking as an individual coming on your own, or as a group, the bookings page is setup for all.

Performance events will be made up of attending choirs to the festival, so if you’re part of a choir and would like to sing at the festival this year please email Fiona@gospelrising.com with your details.

Please share this email and our Facebook page with all who you think would be interested in Gospel Rising, so that we can spread this community event further out across Ireland.

This festival is proudly supported by The Arts Council
