So I bought a car last Monday and there is no tax on it at the moment.
My problem is my full driving test is Friday next week, obviously I need to wait
Until I get the log book to bring it in to get the car taxed.
The only thing is the tester wont let me take the test if I dont have a disc on the car. I am hoping by some sort of miracle that I get the log book by next Wednesday doubt it but shor...

Anyone know if there is a way around this, would tax office b able to issue me a disc faster if I brought in the receipt for the car or anything ?

Rent a similar car for the test?

No car hire place will lease a car to an unqualified driver but driving schools will lease you a car for the test fairly cheaply especially if you take a lesson just before (which is a good idea).
Just make absolutely sure you are insured to drive it.

BTW you do not need to wait on the registration certificate before taxing the car. Just go down to your local Motor Tax Office, fill in the form with the details of the car and pay the fee. You will get your tax disc in your hand there and then.

Or most if not all driving schools would do a package of letting you a car for the test with a driving lesson being part of the package. Might be a relatively cheaper option than renting a car for a full day, especially if you feel that one last lesson close before the test might be of assistance to you. Unlike a rented car L plates will already be up on it and all. Some believe you will be looked on more favourably by testers also if you take the test in a driving school car...if this is true in reality I am unsure.
