So I'm going to the Trinity History Society's ball on Monday night, and the theme is Imperial Russia; so I was thinking of getting one of those Russian Imperial jackets, kinda like this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Nicholas_II_of_Russia_painted_by_Earnest_Lipgart.jpg

Does anyone know where I could get something like that in Dublin? I was thinking I'd try a few of the vintage shops and around George's Street tomorrow but if anyone has a recommendation that'd be great!

I got a British army jacket a few years ago in the Army Surplus store just off Capel St. I think I haggled them down to around €40. You could see if they had anymore and then get crafty! You can get gold fringing and sash-like ribbon in the likes of Hickey's, and old army medals in Georges St Arcade.

Mine is like this but without the adornments!

There is a Russian second hand shop in Phibsborough run by what I can only presume is a Russian lady. I was in there a few weeks back and they had some military jackets. I have no idea how much they were but it's certainly well worth a shot OP.

I don't remember the name of it I'm afraid but it's near the Des Kelly's I think.

As you'd be coming up the North Circular Road the park (with the statue of the soldier) is on your left. After that is Des Kelly's and the Russian shop is a few doors up.

One of the shops along Upper Fownes Street (along the Central Bank) stocks uniforms. You might find something in there that you can bling up. A quick visit to Hickies for curtain accessories will give you the basics for making the epaulettes.

    I'm older than Minecraft goats.
