Jim Dreaper went mad. In Ireland, the jock' could have remounted and walked him over the line - not in the UK though.

What happened with the bets on the race? Did the bookies refund all bets as there was no result?

    Yea they refund all bets.
There is a rule that if you cant win you cant lose so seeing as know one
    won they must refund.

I wonder how many unclaimed dockets were just thrown on the floor of bookies shops tho.

Saw the race in the bookies and it was quite funny.

The commentator said that it wasn't the first time that a horse refused at the fence. They must be something at it that spooks the horses if they are in by the railing.

I know it's supposed to be for horse's safety, but there are alot of novice chases with only 4 or 5 runners, and this will keep on happening unless the rule is revisited

    What The Grouch said.
Also horses that are knackered a mile out will be kept running in the hope that the front runners will have a mishap which defies the purpose of horse welfare.
On the other hand, the rule came in in 2009 and this is the first time none have finished.

If your horse is knackered a mile out he shouldn't really be there in the first place . If your horse pulls up or is tired etc you must report to the stewards why your horse couldn't complete or compete .

Must have been some queue at the stewards hut after the national on Sat so.

sorry thought you knew the rules of racing - if you look up regulation on the turf club website they publish post race reports regarding selected horses in races - they receive reports from trainer OR jockey OR turf club vet

They can issue performance warnings also

if a horse tails off in a race you must report why , just a mention will do - if your horse wins next time out you must explain the performance - can be simply as ground , but what they trying to do is protect the integrity of racing

    same in England as Ireland

And what does that have to do with the actual topic?
