Saorview Setup question

Ok, so first off, sorry to post a whole topic on this, but i couldn't find this elsewhere so needed clarification... feel free to move if i'm in the wrong place :D

So... i may have seen an ad for saorview yesterday (i can't remember) but something triggered it in my head and i've been obsessed since.

I have a tv with freeview, which I know is incompatible with saorview, however it scans through the channels, stops at UHF 54 for a couple of minutes then finishes off - afterwards it gives a list of irish radio stations.
I've seen many people are picking up irish channels with audio only, and basically i'm wondering if the fact that i've not picked up just the audio only tv channels means i need to get a better antenna or reposition it somewhere (all equip below). Thing is, i'm living in smithfield (Dublin 7) in an apartment block, so a big antenna on the roof or attic isn't an option...

    TV: toshiba 32BV500B
aerial: one 4 all (this one) i know they're not the best, but i already had it...

    Any help much obliged...

Your TV isn't compatible with the digital TV channels i.e. no MPEG-4 video decoding. Radio channels work without MPEG-4.

Ok... so I shouldn't even be hearing sound from them... it's just looking for mpeg2 and ignoring mpeg4 altogether? I thought it might be, but I wasn't sure...

    Cheers!! :D

MPEG2 and MPEG4 are for the video.
The sound uses MP2 (used also with MPEG2 video or MPEG4 video or on its own for "Radio") or HE-AAC (Stereo or Surround, generally only on systems that have MPEG4 video but can be used for Audio only channels).

Currently the sound is MP2 on the TV and "radio" channels, so older MPEG2 only sets will detect and play the "radio channels". The Service flags for TV say "MPEG4", so most MPEG2 only tvs can't see the TV channels, if they did, the sound would work, but no picture.

Irish DTT doesn't use MPEG2 at all. All the TV channels are MPEG4 video, SD or HD.
