Party dress advice please?

Hi girls, I've a swanky party in the south of France early this summer. I need a really wow dress and I'd love some advice!

I'm a size 8 and my favourite styles tend to be shift type dresses, but I'm open to suggestions. My colouring is pale and blonde (think Kirsten Dunst) - usually red, pale blue, grey and black colours suit me. I can't do strapless but maybe an one-shoulder style?

Oh and I'm early 30s and about 5'6. Can't wear anything too "young"!

Take a look in Lisboa on Oliver Plunkett Street. They normally have nice stuff and you can get good bargins in the sales.

I'm hoping to get in town for a look around this evening. I have never been in Sheena's! I'll check it out. Lisboa...my mom sometimes shops there so that might have put me off

Amity sometimes have pretty things, might look in there too.

Lisboa have a good variety, I've seen quite a bit in there (am early 30s) especially dresses. They have some nice brands. Worth a peek anyway. You could try Fran & Jane but I find them a bit ... too blingy.

I'd suggest you to go for a short empire waist dress. It will really look good on you as you said you are in your early 30s.

Else go for a short Romanian style draping dress. You can either choose one- shoulder or a normal one.

I have this one myself and it's looks so much better on. With your figure you could get away with anything and 36 isn't too old to wear different types of dresses. As another

Thanks for all the lovely ideas guys! I had a hunt through a couple of the shops in Cork that were mentioned but nothing really caught my eye. I'll look at the web links and see if I can find something with a higher degree of fabulosity online. I am really hooked on the red idea at the moment!

Good grief Purple B! You want ideas, you got ideas. I haven't even seen all the links yet as I'm on the mobile, but those Net a Porter are stunning! If a little beyond my budget, which sucks. Oh to have two thousand dollars to spend on a dress. Must play Lotto tonight, hah!

Sybilla, I actually tried on a Karen Millen really like that red dress! The tulip style doesn't seem to be exactly right on me but it is beautiful. It's on the "maybe" list.
