Hi all, just a quick one :D;) ..

The other morning, the parents flew home with ryanair, but after boarding they(all the passengers) were made wait in the air bridge until the captain, first officer & crew arrived, approximatively 10 to 15 mins, anyone ever had this, i personally have never flow anytime before 11 with any carrier so i wouldn't know :)

    Shane.

Happened to me before. One time we were about to board the aircraft until a screaming dispatcher says ''Get back onto the air bridge now!!". Bit of a nutter really. I think it was to do with refueling the aircraft but I even heard one other dispatcher say "he's a bit of a numpty" lol. It was the last flight out so I assume it was a rush so everyone in the terminal could go home.

I'm sure I've waited before due to a flight being delayed so much they had to change crew, but an on time flight waiting for crew is just shoddy.

Did the flight leave on time? I know Ryanair handling agents will sometimes board the aircraft if it's there on stand early, ahead of the crew arriving.

When you say crew do you mean flight, cabin or both. You cannot board passengers without the cabin crew being on board. They must be there to man the doors in an emergency.

Yes, well kinda. You board the aircraft by the airbridge but it doesn't directly lead you to the aircraft. You've to go down the stairs on the airbridge and walk to the aircraft.

First a correction it was 20 ish mins, everyone was asked to board, but then told to wait in the air-bridge, after about 5 mins the cleaning crew came off the aircraft, and one said in broken english, " we have ah no pilot" so they wait about 15 or so mins until the pilots and crew arrived, and the cabin crew basically walked the cabin quickly then herded everyone on board.

Afaik The Plane was parked overnight

Says in the first post they waited for pilot, first officer & crew

They used an air-bridge straight to the plane

It left bang on time, it was the aircrafts first flight of the day afaik

Ryanair crew(pilots followed shortly by the cabin crew) will usually arrive 30-40 mins before the scheduled departure time.
I've often arrived on stand to see the passengers waiting on the outside terminal steps. Within minutes of the cabin crew completing their safety/security checks ,10 mins usually, boarding will then commence.

    No harm in it really.

Sounds like the ground crew were 'pre-loading' the airbridge so that once boarding did commence that it would progress very quickly.

and Ryanair do use airbridges in plenty of airports.

Palma De Mallorca, Madrid, Barcelona, Malaga...quite a few others too.

If the actual crew are not there yet, a relief crew (cabin staff) will man the aircraft during the boarding while waiting for the actual crew to arrive.

In this case the flight departed on time, so I don't see what the point of the thread is!

Yes very true, I have used them in AGP, MAD, LGW and several other locations
