Considering the posiability of purchasing a remie sps tactical or a ruger scout in 308.
Has anyone any great feelings either way?
    All opinions appriciated

Remmy leaves you more upgrade options

Both look to be fine guns. I love Rugers and Remmys, but the bias is for Remington. I have not owned the 77, strangely enough.

What prices are you looking at?

The Ruger should be much more, correct? For the price of the Ruger in the states you are not looking at an SPS but a 700 CDL.

What work will the gun be doing: hunting, bench, other?

I would go with the 700 until the Ruger proves itself to me.

With that said, I would love to get a ranch rifle into Ireland. Has anyone had any [recent] success in getting the mini-14 into Ireland?

I have no price on the ruger yet. My local RFD mentioned it to me for consideration. He is getting back to me with a price.
Price is an issue and that's why I'm considering the remie, from the research I've done the remie arrears to shoot above it's price range.

For a cheap rifle, they can be dolled up as funds allow.

A second hand remmy can be picked up for €500 and then down teh road you can dol it up bit by bit.

Have an sps tactical in 223 its very accurate rifle picked it up 2nd hand with little done for a very good price. I just changed the stock for hs precision one i had as the choate one that it came with was bit flexible on fore end for bipod. Am very happy with it and its good compact rifle for lamping with its 20" barrel. Even with the cheap remington umc ammo it was producing nice groups at 100yards

I would not fire any rifle in the field without a mod any more, so if not threaded, get it threaded
