    Hi.

I have a 2008 mk5golf 2.0tdi which came with 17 inch alloys as standard. I recently got a set of 15 inch alloys which i intend to fit with winter tyres. Just wondering now if the 15 inch are a bit on the small side, there's only about a half inch clearance between the inside of the rim and the brake caliper and the brake lines also. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks, Sean

Once the rim clears the brake caliper it should be fine. You will have to fit a higher profile sidewall to keep the rolling radius of the new wheels as close to the originals.

Half an inch is a substantial enough amount of clearance - just make sure that the wheel balancing weights don't catch the calliper as well.

The current 17 inch tyres are 45 profile, the 15 inch will be 65 profile so the rolling radius will be pretty much the same. Thanks for your help

By the way does anyone know if the brake caliper is the same size on the 1.9tdi and 2.0tdi golf?
