Thailand Weather October

    Hey,

I was looking to spend 3 weeks in Thailand this year. I was planning to go in October but was strongly advised against doing so by a travel agent, saying it would be monsoon season.

Unfortunately I can only take holidays from work in Sept/Oct.

So basically I'm asking what the weather would be like in October?
How much rainfall is typically expected?
    How regularly?
What would the general temperature be?

i'm planning to spend time in Chaing Mai and the Koh Samui so any info', particularly for these regions would be appreciated.

    Thanks!

I'm no expert at all but I went to Thailand in mid October 2009 and didn't see a drop of rain while we were there!

We went to Bangkok for a week and Phuket and PhiPhi for 5 days each. Weather was gorgeous - I'd say it was in the 30s most days.Friends of ours went over in September and said it rained for maybe two hours every evening - really lashed - but during the day it was perfect. As far as I know October is the end of the monsoon season.

Was also in Thailand last october....
Got a few rain showers... but none that ruined the holiday

I guess in the week that we were there we got soaked twice... both times on the way to a night club (which was inconvenient - considering the aircon that they run in those places)

But the weather certainly would not put me off going back there in October again...

Seems to me that the Travel agent gets his advise from a book rather than real life.. (or was unlucky when he was there!)

Most of the websites that say there will be 10-22/31 days of rain in october don't account for the fact that the rainfall ight only be 1 hour at dusk and not an all-day rain session like we get here in Ireland
