A truly heartbreaking story from the tsunami, which go's to show why dogs are a true friend to both humans and there own.

    http://news.ninemsn.com.au/viralvacuum/glance/153707/dog-stands-by-tsunami-injured-pal.glance
A Japanese dog has shown remarkable loyalty by staying by the side of a fellow pet injured in Friday's devastating earthquake and tsunami.

A TV crew from Japanese network Fuji Television filmed the animal keeping watch beside the wounded dog.

The crew mistakenly believed the dog was warning them to stay away but was instead more likely to be seeking help for his friend.

The station has now been flooded by calls from people looking to rescue the animals.

A cat would have feasted on the remains of his companion and then got to safety before doing a piss on the priceless rug of one of the rescuers.

Cats will be around far longer than dogs.

    I love cats.

When I clicked into this thread I was sure it was going to be a tale of a dog digging his owner out from under some rubble and dragging him to rescuers several miles away.
Lassie has alot of unrealistic expectations to answer for...

Edit: Just watched it now - why did they spend so long just looking at the dogs ??

It says this in the story "The crew mistakenly believed the dog was warning them to stay away but was instead more likely to be seeking help for his friend."

So i would say it was out of fear that the dog might attack them if they went near his friend.

Maybe they do,but the dog wasn't eating his friend he was protecting him,big difference.

Very touching alright, reminds me of the video of the dog dragging his knocked down friend off the motorway through traffic.

I'd also have to asked why did they just stay there looking at him. When the dog first came over he was clearly trying to get the peoples attention and bring them back to his friend. Sad thing is that the injured will probably have to be put down if his injuries are too bad. It's a demonstration of incredibly loyalty apart from anything else.

They were trying to decide if Curry, or Blackbean Sauce would go better with them.

I call BS on that. No one in their right mind would think that dog is going to attack - it looks half drowned and exhausted for heavens sake. They were doing a "Bart's people" soft story if you ask me. Anyone speak Japanese can translate ?

    Doggys are lovely :mad::mad::mad:

Anyway they're only 1000 in the UK.
Not that I could really be happy with "buying" any dog

Both dogs were brought to a shelter after the injured dog was treated by a vet.

    thank god they were rescued..

would be too much if they both perished, its not bad enough watching things every minute with doom and gloom and walking dead like pictures.

actually, my king charles spaniel (rip) would have done the same. spaniels are the worlds finest dogs :)

Im thanking him for posting it tbh....we rely too much on the "shiny happy" ending to be honest.Watch and listen to what people (and animals) have gone through in the last week (that vid is one of them) and it'll have ya stunned. Those dogs that you posted were lucky, that lad probably wasnt....

This is the video that made me thank "jaysus" i live in Ireland this week....stunned after watching it.:o

Reminds me of the Englishman joke "Bus goes over cliff, 20 dead, 1 dog survived"

    "Awhh, the poor thing."

    Still, dogs rule.

You'll only find documented stuff like this with dogs and cats. "Pet" animals. No one follows rats around with cameras so we don't get heartwarming stories about rats.
