Did anyone see this on RTE tonight?

My first feeling was the poor devil lost his job. What a shower of bastards for excluding then from the parade. The Boo-ing from the crowd was a bit much. Was a little embarrassed to be that St Patricks day would be associated with Gay bashing

Then I thought is there not a gay/lesbian parade specifically for celebrating this and why did he feel the need to walk around with a gay/lesbian flag in a st Patricks day parade. Is the st Patricks day parade to celebrate your irishness? Surely his sexual orientation is irrelevant and could the (former religion) teacher not have paraded under a teacher banner or just for being Irish ...what relevance did being gay having to the parade...

Thoughts please as i don’t know what to think

Well, I think the real question is 'why not?' It's probably ok to wave an Irish flag in a gay parade so why not vice versa? There are gay contingents in plenty of the St Patrick's parades in Ireland and nobody bats an eyelid. Of course he could go as a teacher or as a Louth man, but why not as a gay man?
