Finishing garden around house

    This maybe a topic more suited to the gardening section, but I suspect most self-builders have to deal with it. My groundwork’s guy will probably finish the exterior of my house in the next few days. He will finish by levelling the top soil with his bucket. I just want to finish the garden with grass. However, I have no experience of preparing a garden. What is the sequence of events required to lay a grass garden.

    Get subsoils to the right levels,
    spread top soils over,
    if spreading lawnseed by hand mix with sand for ease of spread,
    roll the finished top,
    watch it grow.
