    Quick one lads,

I check my levels once a week, (More so after a longish trip,) as my engine tends to burn about a litre per 1,000KM

I generally top it it up to close to the top marker on the dipstick when it gets close to the lower marker.

Is there any benefit to keeping it continuously topped up to close to max or does it make no odds at all as long as you're within the designated markers on the dip stick?

Keep it at the max mark if you can, if I was you I'd check it weekly and top up every 500km :) I wouldn't let it need a litre of oil.
