    Hi,

I have searched all over revenue.ie and cant find what Im looking for.

Does anyone know if there is a form to be filled out on how a self-employed person goes about registering new staff? Is there even a form for it?

Would there be a difference between hiring fulltime new staff or once off events staff?

The websites very tricky unless you know exactly what you need!

    Thanks!

Are you a sole trader or do you own a Ltd company?

It's a form TR1 or TR2 depending on whether you're a company or self-employed to register as an employer if not already done so.

You then get a P45 off your new employee and submit the relevant part to the tax office to register them as your employee. A form 12A may be necessary in some situations where they don't have a P45.

    Thank you! Thats really helpful!

Should these docs go through an accountant or straight to the revenue?

You can go either way, or call in to tax office and they may assist especially if registering as employer

My brother is a sole trader and employing a friend to do a few hours a week, are we required to register this?

Is there a point(hrs or amount of pay) at which he is required to register or becomes worth the rigmarole in figuring it out!>?

    From Revenues website

You must register for PAYE/PRSI if you pay:
€8.00 per week (€36.00 a month) or more, to an employee who has only one employment
€2.00 per week (€9.00 a month) or more, to an employee who has more than one employment.
