Birmingham Airport and Train Station Query

I'm going to the Midlands on Monday and I will be getting the train back to Birmingham Airport and flying back to Dublin from there. I'm thinking of getting a train that gets to Birmingham Airport Railway Station at 14:37 for the Aer Lingus flight at 15:20. Is this connection easily achieveable if I have used online check-in or should I allow more time to get from the train station and through security? I've never been to Birmingham airport and I have no idea what it is like there.

Are you checking in baggage? You need to be at the gate for 14.50.

Security at Birmingham is quiet fast but you are cutting it very very close. Also the Aer Lingus gate is one of the last in the Terminal. About a 5 minute walk down the terminal.

If you are checking in baggage there is no way you would make it. If not you better hope you have no delays.

Got that flight a couple of times.

I think I might play it safe and book onto the later flight at 20:15. If I get there in time for the 15:20 flight I will try and get on the earlier flight by asking the staff at the desk nicely (worked for me before at Heathrow). If that fails I'll just go into Birmingham city centre to pass on hour or 2.

    Where are you travelling from?

There is a 5.30 Ryanair from East Midlands and a 5.40 Ryanair from Luton

To be honest I think that you are leaving it a bit tight. All you need is a train delay (having taken that route a number of times I have always had a delay) and all you need is a machine in security to break down etc to add to your delay. Also the Irish gate's seem to be right at the end of the airport.

If possible I would get an earlier train or later flight.
