Hi all - going unreg for this one.

I've recently had a tragedy in the family and since the funeral last week, I've been getting very very nasty text messages. Thing is - the senders number is not coming up when I open them. I have my suspicions on who it is but without a number I can't do anything. How are these messages sent does anyone know? Mods if this is the incorrect place for this, please move.

Any help would be appreciated before I can take this further.

I'm not an expert but they could be sent via Bluetooth. Someone would need to be within 5 - 10 metres away from you to send via Bluetooth.
Does your phone have Bluetooth enabled?

Also, when you have the text open, can you go Options and Message Details. This may give you further information.

Other than that, you should contact the Gardai.

if itsa family member you may not want to approach the gardai. Surely contacting your mobile provider would provide the information if the 'message details' does not.

As far as I am aware you can't block your number in a text message?

I've heard of those online services. Its most likely them.
But thats bad op. First of all such nasty text messages is terrible but this person going to the lenths of using such a site to mask their number?

... its very vindictive. its planned out with utter venom. Normally Im one to say sort things out before going to the Gardai. But this is a clear case that you should. However ... the gardai arent going to do much. Talked to a gardai once about prank phone calls etc. He was honest and said they generally dont check. Unless its something very serious.
