Anybody buy/own/use one of these for grassland rejuvenation?

    Any feedback appreciated!

Did the advertisement in last weeks IFJ, by Callans Ardee put you thinking?
I forget the price now, but I think I saw one at a good offer price!!
I was thinking about getting a chain harrow, but when I saw the IFJ, I sort of thought, the Einblock might be the way to go!

I have seen several threads on BFF, concluding they are the way to go:pac:

I saw one of them doing a reseed job in a field beside home about 2 years ago. While it did a fine job on the reseeding, I thought that there might be cheaper ways of doing the job. Mainly a chain harrow and just sprinkle the seed with an ordinary wagtail spreader. The tine harrow only did minimal disturbance of the soil in comparison to what a chain harrow would do.

I'd be a fan of at least a bit of soil disturbance or blackening in both sprayed off ground or grassland being rejouvinated before spreading the seed, but you wouldn't even know that the tine harrow had gone over the ground.

I'd suggest going to one of their demo days to see what its like!!

I saw a field power harrowed and reseeded last October.
The same guy, did a very small paddock right next to the power harrowed field with an Einblock harrow.
Looking at the two fields today, you wouldn't know from the road which one was which, by looking at grass cover.
Different story when you walk on them. Einblock strip more solid.
Not saying chain harrow wouldnt do as good or better job, but makes me wonder about merits of full power harrow.

I reseeded with the chain harrow last autumn and I have great cover too and I know the merits of not breaking the skin as my field is very dry right now.

I'm just trying to justify the price of the tine harrrow and its unjustifyable to me when I have my own chain harrow and fertilizer spreader which does as good of job - if not better (personal opinion) ;)

I went to one a few years back, and subsequently reseeded 10acres, with the increasing price of fertilizer, I'd be thinking of more reseeding and maybe clover addition.
Even without reseeding, the harrowing should be beneficial. We reseeded a couple of small paddocks last backend and they have a great flush of grass on them now. Hard to beat new grass!
