    :confused:Notification requirements

*Each couple must give the state three months notice of their intention to marry.*
The following items are requirements for your appointment with the Registrar’s Office to fulfill your Three Month Notification of Intention to marry. Both parties must attend the Registrar’s Office and you must contact the Registrar’s Office to make an appointment for attendance.
This is for guidance purposes only and in some cases additional information may be required.
IMPORTANT: If you do not bring the required documents to your interview a second appointment will be necessary.
    EACH PERSON MUST BRING
    • Original Passport OR other photo ID
    • Original Birth Certificate
    • Prescribed Fee- €150 (additional charges apply for outside venues)
    • Details on nature of ceremony i.e. Civil/Religious. If religious, postal address of church and also name and address of Registered Solemniser (for more information and to check national list on the website of the Office of the Registrar General, click here)
    • Name & Date of Birth of both witnesses (who must be over 18 years of age)
    • PPS Number
In addition to the above original documents, please bring the following PHOTOCOPIES
    • Photocopy of passport photo page OR other photo ID. This photocopy should be in colour or best quality otherwise a passport sized photo is required
    • Photocopy of birth certificate
    IF DIVORCED
    • Irish Divorce – Original/Original Certified Copy signed by Court Official/Solicitor of Divorce Papers and photocopy of same. Divorce Decree under Section 5(1) of the Family Law Act, 1996.
    • Foreign Divorce – Please contact the Registrar prior to making your appointment.
    IF WIDOWED
    • Original Civil Marriage Certificate and photocopy of same
    • Original Death Certificate of Late Spouse and photocopy of same
IF YOU HAVE A CIVIL ANNULMENT
    • Original Civil Annulment Papers and photocopy of same
    • Letter of No Appeal
    IMPORTANT NOTES
In cases where any of the above required documents are not written in the Irish or English Language, Certified Translations of such documents into English must be provided. Where one or both parties to the proposed marriage has a limited knowledge of the English Language, you must engage an Interpreter to accompany you to your appointment and to your Marriage.
At the notification meeting you will be asked to sign a declaration that there is no impediment to your marriage. You will be given a Marriage Registration Form which is your licence to marry. This form will be signed by you and your witnesses and Solemniser on the day of your marriage. When it is returned to any registrar’s office, your marriage will be registered and it will then be possible for you to purchase a marriage certificate.
If the parties to the proposed marriage have a child born before the intended date of marriage, please inform the registrar for advice on re-registering the birth.

Can take a while to get an appointment. We rang in January and only got our appointment for yesterday! Getting married in July.
Im not sure if they gave us that appointment cos they were leaving earlier ones free.
    Only takes about 10/15 minutes

All we needed was out Birth certs (if you can't find your its €10 for a new one) and passports. You need the name of the priest (if religious) and the address of the church. They did the rest. EASY

Bear in mind that each registrars office can have slightly different requirements so get them to confirm. I had 2 appointments booked, one in dublin and one in wicklow (long story) and they each gave me slightly different requirements. e.g one wanted proof of address, the other didn't.

We went Naas office and they didn't need proof of address. We are renting and they even told us we can change our address on the day of the wedding on the MRF. All you need to do is have everyone in the bridal party and the priest initial the form.

I think some offices try to make these things seem complicated.

    Hi,
did you have to show a passport? I only have a driving lisence and don't want to get a passport as will not be travelling anywhere I'd be needing one for the foreseeable future and the expence of it, when I can't afford to travel is too much. I am getting quite worried!
