With Sue Sylvester coaching Aural Intensity, Blaine and the Warblers' dynamic set list and tough judges Tammy Jean Albertson and Sister Mary Constance, the kids of New Directions decide the only way to win Regionals is to write and perform their own original songs. Meanwhile, Quinn is hell-bent on getting Finn back and ruling McKinley once again.

Really great episode. The warblers were on fire!happy that
Kurt and blaine finally got together
. the original songs were hilarious and I enjoyed the overall ep.only niggly thing for me was Sue
    knocking the judge out
    .It was way too OTT.

Loved the original songs; the good ones :p though I had a chuckle at Santana and Puck's ones!
Yay Kurt and Blaine! So cute!
Glad they finally addressed the Blaine being the lead singer ALL the time thing. Getting a bit out of hand.

Gotta say the outfits were horrid! Those blue dresses with the chunky jewels, cut-off leggings and black boots.... bleugh! The dress would have been lovely without the jewels and if it was made out of a lighter material! Terrible choice. Sorry had to say it!

Yet another enjoyable episode and the original songs didn't feel a bit out of place and they will only add to the show's repertoire if they continue to be at that level.

The only question I have is why Vocal Adrenaline were completely absent from the proceedings - it's likely that they're saving them for later in the season for Nationals or next year, but not to reference them being absent from regionals after they won that competition last year was jarring.

The biggest issue, though, was that the Tea Party/Sarah Palin parody was excruciatingly bad. As someone who has a decent grasp of US politics it just struck me as cobbled together from the most obvious of news stories they could have drawn from and was far too late to feel anything but stale. I always try to avoid getting involved in the 'Hollywood is insidiously liberal' claptrap but that whole scene struck me as being wrote by people whose grasp of politics is very weak, at least in this area.

You can make fun of anything you want, but you better make damn sure it's funny as there's nothing worse to watch than jokes that are flat-lining.

Having to wait a month for the next episode reminds me that I'm not losing as much as I'm gaining by watching so few first-run tv programs.

One of the more enjoyable episodes in a while. Loved Quinn's speech to Rachel - really thought it was fantastically acted.

Did anyone else think that Kurt and Blaine's duet was shockingly bad?

EDIT: Meant to say that the joke about the judges probably wouldn't make sense to most. But Kathy Griffin is extraordinarily left-wing and is basically 2nd to Cher with the gay community in the US, Canada and Australia.
Thought it was a fantastic cameo and pretty funny.

I know who Kathy Griffins is and it only made it worse to see such bland and unfunny material coming from a famous comedian's mouth. It made me think less of her and indeed it can only damage her credibility as an advocate to the people who don't have vested interests in either side, the only people who really matter in the decision making on social issues. A failure on every count, honestly.

Did anyone else find the timing of this episode really off? There was very little build-up to sectionals. I know it's been referenced throughout previous episodes as being x weeks away and very soon. But when it cut from Rachel writing her song to Aural Intensity performing, I couldn't believe that they'd just skipped discussions, practicing and rehearsals and any major events centring on sectionals. Major deviation from past form, I found it confusing and clumsy.

And totally agree on the Sarah Palin references being way too obvious. At first I thought it was a little funny but as it got more and more blatant it just lost any humour.

That said, I loved Kurt and Blaine, the songs were funny particularly Puck's "Big Ass....... Heart." And Kurt's ode to Pavarotti was lovely, great song. Some great moments, decent episode for the most part, I just couldn't get over the jump to "And now it's Sectionals time!!"

    +1

Thought the same thing! It came out of nowhere! Last weeks episode should have mentioned "Regionals is next week!"
Just seemed silly how they went from learning how to write their own songs to writing their own songs to all singing a song they wrote!
