Ok this may seem a bit all over the place. Today I went car hunting as I sold my old car over the weekend . Im not really caught up on one type or size . I have a very varied history in my car types.

So I went and saw a Megane Coupe GT 90bhp . It a lovely car Garage looking for €21950. It is a beauty !!!

Then on my way home i popped in and drove a 07 BMW 520 Manual Diesel M . Has 55000 on clock and everything seems pretty good with it. It was very nice too. It was retailing at €21995, garage will sell for €20500.

Now Im really confused . I know they are very different cars and yes I know Im probably mad ..

    so ...
    What would you do ?

Do you think I could do better on the Megane price?
Do you think I should go for BMW?

    Should I just walk ?

    I need a car ASAP ...

    Any thought appreciated .

Main thing is not to rush in to anything, regardless of how quick you reckon you need a car.

Take a bit of time, drive both for decent test drives and pick the one (or something completely different if it comes to that) that YOU want and like the best.

The mother got a Megane estate last year (the 105bfp ) and loves it.I've put a couple of thousand km on it myself and really like it, cant fault it. Hers is the TomTom. Can't offer an opion on the BMW, was never a fan of them so dont educate myself on them :) .

Each to their own. Would rather get the bus than a 90bhp megane.

I'm sure you could bargain down the Megane a little more if that's your thing.

Personally I would take the BMW and if you're happy with the 90bhp in the Megane the power in a 520d should be more than adequate. That said I would be looking for leather, a/c and an auto box. You should be able to pick one up for well under €20k too!

Am I the only one who thinks the words "Coupe GT" and "90BHP" don't belong in the same sentence?

Surely there's a better deal available on the Megane I would have thought?

Anyway, if you get a decent warranty I'd go with the BMW.

OP, both cars might be coming in at around your budget but they are from different ends of the spectrum. There is big differences in running costs between a brand new mid size family hatchback and a 4 year old mid size executive saloon. Have you looked into this?

BTW I think both deals are not great. Renault are giving away Meganes at the moment and 07 520ds are going for below €20k at this stage.
