Any ideas where in dublin I'd get this fixed and a ballpark figure for the work? Anyone been down the same route or similar?
Im guessing i need a replacement member and then labour with possibly a bit of welding. any advice?

Its a weak point on older Nissans. The part should be easily available spurious from a motor factors and is pretty straight forward to fit although does need 4(I think) tack welds.
It wouldn't need to be a body shop that does the repair.

Thanks doc. Might wander down and see if i can get the local factors to order it in. I was wondering where the welding would be required as it looks to have bolt fittings on either side and also as its the mount for the rad im guessing this has to come out? Makes it a fair bit of labour if so

Well I've never actually changed one on a primera so they may be bolted on. I've done a few Micra's and they are welded on. The rad comes out in a couple of mins.

E175 for the part. Bit steep. Thats at a local factors. hate to see what nissan would charge.
Ive near rebuilt the car at this stage. This One more thing, get nct and its gone. Any idea on labour costs for this doc? Prob a bigger job than a micra id have thought. Know anyone who'd take it on for a good price?

I had the same problem on my Micra. Nissan in Roscrea wanted €275 plus vat for the unit and €400 plus vat to repair it and at that just cut off what was needed off both parts and weld it in.

I got the part for €49 plus vat in my motor factors and set about doing it myself:

Not too bad a job to do, just be patient and remember how you take stuff apart so as its easier to put back together!!

Nice one beemer. good pics. any welding involved or just bolts? looks like u sanded sealed and painted the joints. What did u use for them?

The old part was spot welded in so I'd to drill all the spot welds out. Some were tricky to get at but being patient got it done. I lined up the new unit and drilled through it to match the holes on the car and sealed everything then bolted it together....I'd asked opinions on a few mechanics and they all agreed this was fine....I used around 40 bolts at least.

I sanded down the rust spots and primed with metal primer and when everything was dry sealed everything (even inside the wings) with underbody seal. The new part shouldn't rust any time soon.
