Kenny may be on his honeymoon period for now but it won't be long before his first big cock up possibly with Merkel and FG will again attempt a heave this time ousting him. So how long before Bruton is Taoisigh?

Let me put it this way. If your wishing for Bruton to become head soon, you better not hold your breath in waiting!
Not likely for possible years to come.

Personally speaking, I wouldn't like him to be head.
    In fairness, I prefer Kenny.

    Most probably a long time.

Remember, just a few months ago we were all saying that he was the reason FG was going to lose the election.

I agree that there will be embarrasing incidents, but we have already set the bar low in that regard for him.

Fine Gael as a whole, will not last 3 years.

    Very serious.

estimate this government will last about three years.

By then LP will be again struggling with it's conscience and may cut and run.

FG might stay on if FF do a Tallagh.

Kenny likely to be able to stay on a leader of FG. Bruton no longer a credible challenger - possibly one of the young turks or James O'Reilly.

Hope Lucinda now stays quiet about her ambitions.

    Not a chance

FF are finished because of deception and incompetence.

They have betrayed us and left the country in ruin .

A partnership with FF would be treasonous

Kenny is doing well so far.

Bruton will never be leader of Fine Gael let alone Taoiseach.

He had his shot last year and was humiliated.

The party ain't gonna risk putting him forward again if it arises.
He's damaged goods now politically speaking.

Early days yet, but Kenny is proving he is the right person for the job imo.

Doubt it would ever come to that.

There are enough independents waiting in the wings to keep FG in government if Labour pull the plug.

Even without that gobshyte from south Kerry.

Fianna Fail are not coming back.
They only have a chance of coming back when
    A) We've paid off our debt
    B) The calamity of the property bubble is a distant memory.
That's going to take at least a generation.

The true scourge of Fianna Fail's reign has yet to emerge, but it will emerge over the next 2 years imo, as interest rates start climbing and we get a clearer picture of wheter we will default or not.

If Fine Gael don't survive, I think there will be a hard swing to the right.
It certainly won't be to the left, not when we have stories such as these in the media:

Well first of all Richard Bruton will never be leader of FG, the next leader of FG will more than likely be someone like Vardaker or Phil Hogan. Second FG at the moment are the only option for the vast majority of people.

Who are they going to change to? FF, the party that destroyed the country, they wont be in 50+ seat territory for 10 years or so..
Labour, they are in government and will be the big losers in the next election.
Sinn Fein, might be an option for some but their left wing ideaology will turn off the majority.
    ULA....

So, unless a center right party like the PD's emerge over the next few years FG are the only show in town.

Once the first austerity budget comes through, Labour party supporters will realise that these cuts are inevitable, regardless of who is in power (The alternative being national bankruptcy)

They will do one of either two things; 1) demand a fresh election and in turn deny reality by suggesting that FG 'ruined the country' (Just as everyone suggested FF 'ruined the country'. Frankly I'm convinced that if Caesar himself were in power he would 'ruin the country' as this country is fúcked no matter who is in charge) or 2) Stick out the term, behave like adults, and strive to make the best out of an intolerable situation.

He's already 'cocked up'! How many new quangos is he bringing in when he promised voters that these would be reduced?

This govt won't last the full term.
Also you can't fully write off FF, unfortunately, and that's due to their cheerleaders in the media coupled with the bovine stupidity of their voters.
Wait til you see now, the Indo/Sindo will run stories such as "FG/Lab/IRA/Looney Left/ and Not the Glorious Fianna Fail Party caused the recession"

Unfortunately FF still have 20 TD's which is more than enough for a workable majority with FG. I don't think FG want to go down that route, but if Labour upped and left, they would seriously consider it, no doubt.

And don't kid ourselves, no one has a mandate to govern as a majority party, but FF still have a bigger mandate than the Green Party, or the PD's had by virtue of having 20 TD's sitting in the Dáil.

The Dáil is expected to agree new arrangements for ministerial transport which would free up more than 50 Gardaí, it was announced today.

Enda Kenny and his Ministers are discussing new plans which would involve TD's being driven by civilian drivers.

Only the Taoiseach, Tánaiste and the President would retain their garda drivers.

Former office holders, including Ex-Taoisigh like Brian Cowen and Bertie Ahern may also only be granted a driver when they are attending official functions.

The arrangements, which are designed to save money, are being discussed at Cabinet this morning and a formal decision is expected later.

If you are late for a meeting there will be no consequences. If a minister is late for a meeting there are great consequences. Put down the tabloid trash and ease off on the populism. Government ministers are special; they administer our democracy.
