    Hi,

Im going to UK next week to buy a diesel. I've found one or two private 06 and 07s, approx 60k mileage. They're good value but am also paranoid they are too cheap. i.e. some potential hidden issues. Any experience buying from private sellers in UK? What should I look out for ?
Anyone any experiences I should be aware of ?
Probably worth shelling out for the RAC check?

    Thanks

If you do nothing else right, at least do this!

Worst case scenario if you spend the money: you pay £250 and walk away from a lemon. If not, you buy said lemon and spend two grand on repairs. Think about it.

RAC check is very much worth it. I had my Honda Accord checked out in early 09 when I was buying it from a dealership in Leicestershire. Cost around £200-250, and the guy who carried it out, Steve, called me afterwards and gave me a synopsis. Soon afterwards they e-mailed me a PDF, with a printed copy following a few days later.

It was really thorough and detailed - they guy said there was some pitting corrosion on the alloys, but that it was just cosmetic - when I took delivery of the car, I had to nearly search with a microscope to find what he was talking about!
