price of a heifer calf

    Hi guys,
    I am the son of a semi retired farmer. He currently has beef cattle. I have a partner who loves the farm. I want to buy either a heifer or a heifer calf off my dad for her.
    I know he would give it for nothing but i want to buy it. Both are limousin cross with limousin colouring.

    What is the going rate.

    I know there are variables and cost of living etc with the animals (which i will include)

    I appreciate any feedback.

    you cant simply give her the heifer. it will have to either stay in your father's herd, or go to another herd(number)owner. For a good idea on prices, have a look at the farmers journal mart reports.

    Depends how old the heifer is???
    Most of them start around 200-250 for couple weeks old up to 400-450 for few months old.

    fairest thing to do would be to give him the price of calf at weaning stage?

    Average LM Heifer 500-600 similar bull 600-700:D

    Also ask your dad which sex would be least hassle on him in winter e.g. he may want to sell the bulls and keep a few replacement heifers therefore extra heifer would be no hassle or vice versa he keeps a clatter of bulls and wont want a single heifer in the middle of them, bulling every 3 weeks:mad:
