What do people make of Mark winstanley? I've seen and read a few times that people think he's a mug, I like his videos as there short and to the point bit entertaining as well.

Been trying to find his tips for last years festival to see how he done.

Personally I have him in the same bracket as Donn Mc Clean, shockingly bad.

Don't have a clue who either of them are.

Winstanley looks like Jabba the hutt with grey hair and glasses and John Parrot as a sidekick.

Donn Mc Clean is the geeky looking fella with grey hair who waffles about stats all the time in a monotone voice and tips Barbers Shop in every race. At the preview night I told my mate if he mentioned Barbers Shop I was going to punch him(Donn) in the face

    Connolly!!

Donn writes for a paper and Winstanley is Racing Post and I think BBC, or it's another fat bastid that looks like him.

I remember seeing one race where he was supporting himself on the white running railing and some horses went by and he was twice as wide as them.

Aw I know them now that I see them. That first fella is like someone you'd see on Vincent Browne.

I am:D. I have never heard the guy tip any winners and he just talks about stats all day long.

Winstanley = mug, plays for laughs. Unfunny court jester.

His ten point max bet on Woolcombe Folly after he won at Cheltenham was a class bet. If he wins of course, well and good. Was in the RP also the following Monday. He keeps claiming that the time was better than the Tingle Creek, which of course is true and makes some sense, yet he hasnt mentioned Tanks for That, currently 7/1 for the Grand Annual - who also ran quicker than Master Minded in the race.

McClean = Better than average. Better when he was trying and not enjoying the sound of his own voice.

I must admit after hearing so many tips that came nowhere I developed an "sub-conconcious switch off" when I hear him prattle on.

Do you reckon he is worth listening to?

He is not bad. Better than most I would think. Just that I think he has been busy making himself into a brand over the last few years.

He seems to be dallying into the idea of a subscription service on his web site. His horses to follow list is pretty extensive, and putting up the winners and not the level stakes details is questionable.

If he stuck to the Irish field and the newstalk bits, I'd enjoy him a little more.

He's a value bet man, not a favourites man (e.g. tipping Imperial Commander for the Gold Cup last year).
If you follow all his tips you'll be in the money. Probably not if you jump in and out.

Though mainly a jumps pundit, he did win one leg of the Tote Ten To Follow for last years flat season.

He writes for the Sunday Times, Racing Post, Irish Field. On radio regularly with Newstalk, sometimes RTE. Did a TG4 Cheltenham special over the weekend.
