Bought a snorkle today

I bought a new "professional" snorkle and a latex swimming hat today in my constant hunt for a faster swimming stroke. I'm not sure if the latex hat has any advantage over the old nylon one but it's what all the pro's wear so I thought I'd give it a bash.

The main thing is the snorkle. At the moment my speed is about 1m/second (more if I go flat out). I'm hoping the snorkle will give me the chance to just work on my body positioning and kicking. I'll be able to constantly see the floor of the pool too which seems to help me gauge not only my speed but the smoothness of my speed.

I'm applying basic laws of physics. If I can maintain a constany velocity I'll use less energy than if I'm going fast-slow-fast-slow. That way I can iron out the kinks in my overall stroke then gradually increase the speed.
