Have a look at the British Farming Forum, Precision farming section - http://farmingforum.co.uk/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=49,

It has lots of threads on what you are looking for and discussions on the different types of systems etc. It will give good info on their uses and good and bad points, I looked on here before a number of months ago, as was looking at these as well. You can then Google some of the product or supplier names and find out more. I did find a system that was about £300 - £400 at the time, but just cant remember what one it was, as I didnt buy anything yet. What i was really looking for was some application that could be used on an I Phone or on a fairly cheap GPS unit.

ya thats the one. you get the software to map your fields and save them to your pc. i upgraded my antenna to the white dome shape one. it was 300 extra but brings accuracy down to 6 inches. don't think i can drive any better than that!! ask them about that maybe.
