Where can you go (which is publicly accessible) to get a nice elevated view of Limerick City, particularly at night? Theres a decent-ish view from the Dooradoyle exit past the motorway (near Collins Bar) but its not great.

    Any ideas?

Woodcock Hill and Gallows Hill....go out the Ennis Road and right at the Meelick Roundabout, left at the end of that road then second right after that. Follow that road (keep left) and EVENTUALLY you'll come to the top.

Woodcock hill is nice alright, well worth checking out if you want to get a decent view, but its from a distance, so everythings a bit hazy, especially if its not a cracking day.
My recommendation would be the strand hotel top floor, im sure if you just get the lift up there and pop onto the balcony nobody will notice ;).

Can you see over the city from Gallows Hill without getting out of your car? Not sure it's the place to go to at night time, I thought you had to walk to the far side of the "golf ball" to look down over the city.

The Clarion and the Strand have viewing areas but it would be best to ask for permission. Also, if any multi-storey car parks are open late head to the roof top parking area and you should get a decent view of that part of the city.

I think RTE have a balcony as well.

In the strand, go in the main door, and go straight and into the glass evevators, from there head to the 6th floor, and walk straight to the double glass doors and the balcony, there is a great view of the direction of towards King Johns castle, and that side of the river!

Given that your picture was taken in Dublin some time back, it is understandable that you would want out of there so badly. Just follow any of the routes shown in the picture and it will allow you to escape West Britain.;)
