any recommendations on where to go?

    thanks.

I'll tell you where not to go!

Back from the future on aungier street (I think). Up until recently they had an official looking sign oustide saying apple repair specialist which is why I went there, thinking that they were licences by apple to do repairs, how naive I was.

I had to get the digitiser replaced on my iPhone so they Charged me 90 euro (the going rate around town for that job). They failed to seal the new digitiser so that within a week that a huge amount of dust had got under it. Then the home button stopped working entirely. Brought it back, and they said they d reseal it but that Id have to pay for the repair to the home button!

In any event, just over a month later the seals went again and dust started getting in under the screen. They refused to repair it again as it was over a month since they last did it. So I went to gsm solutions over near Capel street and they resealed it for 30 euro, but low and behold a month later the same problem again. I have lost patience with it at this stage and am no just eagerly awaiting the arrival of iPhone 5 so I can be done with this dusty yoke.

My advice pay the extra few quid and send it to apple to repair it. At least in that case the clowns that operate on it won't void the warranty.

ok, for the purposes of somebody searching in the future :

That's not all that helpful if you don't tell us where she got it done! It tells people you got it sorted but doesn't help anyone with the sane issue

    Hi Kceire,
I have a cracked Iphone4 screen that I need to replace.
I have rang around and I was surprised at how expensive the quotes I was getting were.
Techmender/fonemender are charging a whopping €150, fmmobiles are charging €100, expresstech are charging €129(10 posting), iphone repair Ireland are €110 and then I have my cousins friend offering to do it for €40....Needless to say I don’t know which one I trust you!
I am aware the glass digitizer & LCD has to be fully replaced but still.....
Any of you guys know anywhere else? The crack isn’t even that bad so I can’t justify paying any more than €50/€60 to get it fixed!
    Thanks in advance!
    T

A small crack is the exact same as a big crack. It doesn't matter. Screen is damaged and will cost you money to replace it. You can go the ebay route and order spare parts and have your cousin do it for €40 or else pay a shop €100+.

Your cousins friend may not have done an iphone4 before and may be assuming you just need to replace the Digitizer only like the 3g/3gs, this is not the case with the iphone4 the Digitizer/LCD are clued together and need to be replaced together, some sites are selling the digitizer only which is completely useless.
    anyway
My place does it for €80 and we have the parts in stock now

I ordered the replacement parts from ebay - make sure you buy replacement screen AND the digitizer. A few extra euro will make your life a lot easier.

Its not possible to do with only one of them, the originals are glued together and there is no possible way to seperate

Not eBay, but I got this exact one from Amazon. Fitted it myself and it's absolutely as new.

Note, you'll need a better quality mini philips screwdriver than the one in the kit, however. Otherwise you'll find yourself with a dismantled iPhone and a skinned screwdriver.

actually, if it's a newer model iphone 4 you'll need the pentaloupe screwdriver not the philips.

Ahh, that explains why I never needed all the other screwdrivers in the kit. (Launch day iPhone 4!)
