Dark circles

I have had very pronounced dark blue circles for 18 months. Im 30, male so makeup is not an option.

i havent drank or smoked in 3 months.
    its not heridetiary.
i dont rub my eyes excessively.

i have a history of anemia. I have been taking iron supplements for 2 months (ferrograd c).

i drink 2 to 3 litres of water a day.

since being made redundand i am sleeping 10 to 12 hours a day and not getting much exercise. Could this alone be a reason for bad dark circles?

diet is average. Weight is normal.

    any advice?

Being anaemic can cause them, perhaps get retested and see if you are still anaemic, and if so, if your GP can offer you a stronger/better iron supplement.

If they REALLY bother you, a peachy concealer designed for under eye circles could help, if used properly no one would ever notice.

    You're sleeping far too much.

You should go to the doctor for a checkup first and foremost. He might do a few blood tests. You could be taking too much iron for all you know.

Apart from that just try to get into a proper routine instead of staying in bed half the day and not exercising.

I've been aneamic all my life and about 3 years ago I was tired/sleeping excessively. I went to the doc and got a full blood screening and found out i had an underactive thyroid. get your bloods checked, it'll ease your mind and at least you'll know what you're dealing with.

get out and do some excercise, even a 30 minute walk around the neighbourhood in the evening, itll make you naturally tired , and sleep less, 6-7 hours is plenty (for me anyway) I feel more tired and look more tired the more sleep I get for some reason.

they make eye rollons for me (well marketed for men, its the same as the womens one) that reduce dark circles, I use it occasionally and it works

When i say little exercise i would have a daily brisk walk into town each day that takes an hour but thats down from being fairlw athletic 4 years ago.

the sleeping is more so down to a lack of a routine and will wake up and read a book or the internet in the morning in bed and go back to sleep after about 2 hours. I wouldnt class it as fatigue, more so laziness unfortunately.

i do feel better when i get up early a few days in a row.

i will look into volunteering while job hunting to get a routine back and see if that helps with the racoon eyes.

    thanks.

you could try an eye cream too. My father uses the dior one thats for men and he finds it good-my whole family have dark circles!!! But i know he gets it in london so i don't know if they do it here

Also using a computer makes youe eyes more tired. I'm not sure what a normal amount or what your amount is though but maybe its something to bare in mind?

dark circles are the pain of my life so i feel for you op!!!

I use two different eye creams, one has a metal massager on it which is good and then i use a light hydrating concealer over. It works great for me.

Wouold you consider going to a make up counter and having someone show you how to use an eye cream or concealer? Maybe a quieter store in case you'd feel awkward?

Clinique do an eye cream called All About Eyes it's brilliant, imo. It reduces puffiness and circles.

try spatone (in the 3 for 2 deal at boots). it's iron rich water with less iron content but your body absorbs more of the iron than it does with ferograd.

have you tried using old teabags for your eyes?

I have bad circles around my eyes too, it's a real pain when you're a man because make up isn't an option, although I have been tempted on certain occasions!

I find if I sleep more than 9 hours a day or sleep less than 7 hours they will get progressivly worse. Sitting at a computer all day definitely makes mine worse aswel and I do notice an improvement if I can stay away from computers for long stretches on a given day

If you don't already, you should take a multivitamin and drink as much water as possible. I've heard theories that the problem could be liver/kidney related so a liver flush(google it) might really help you. I'm going to try and do it in the next week, I will post my results
