Donnie Steele Returns to Slipknot

Slipknot have announced their 2011 touring bassist, in place of the late Paul Gray, will be original Slipknot guitarist Donnie Steele

Donnie Steele was one of the founding members of Slipknot alongside vocalist and percussionist Anders Colsefni, guitarist Josh "Gnar" Brainard, bassist Paul Gray, drummer Joey Jordison and percussionist Shawn Crahan

Obviously with Gray having passed away the band felt bringing in another founding member of the band to replace him was the right decision to make. It also seems obvious from this standpoint that if Slipknot did choose to continue without Gray and record another album it would most likely be Steele in that position

Steele has had a MySpace site since 2005 and has posted new music there, another possible reason for his return to Slipknot, to boost the popularity of future solo material and help land their friend a record deal

By his own admission, previous to this, he played just one show with Slipknot and was in the band for a period of between 7 and 8 months

Good smart decision made by Slipknot, I'm sure a few fans wouldn't be so content with a totally new guy in Paul Gray's place.
