you'll need to get the radio code for the car before radio will work again

Depends on what car it is. Some of the Jap radios are not coded but you may lose the preset radio stations.

Have the car running while you swap the battery ? Though might not be a good idea with modern cars . . .

    hi

if your cigar lighter is powered all the time you can use a pp3 battery and this adapter to keep your radio code and settings when you change the battery .

If your handy enough you can make one up yourself like i did ,i've used this device many times and its fine

    best of luck

Sometimes the code has been written down by a mechanic or previous owner on the radio itself, pull it out and have a look.
Otherwise you can get code from a dealer $$. You can also google the radio model and maybe get code that way.
