Is anyone here a member of the IAMI?

I was looking into applying for membership of this, however I can't get any info on their website regarding application for membership, membership fees, associated costs etc...

I rang a contact number from the website and got through to Dennis, whom appears to be the founder of the IAMI and he was no help whatsoever.

He couldn't give me any information, any info on fees, membership, couldn't e-mail me on anything.. all he said was that the UK head office had pulled out.

The website appears to have been updated in 2011 and so appears to be still in operation..

Is there anyone here a member?

Is it worth joining? The guy I was talking to didn't exactly instill any confidence in me.

Anyone know what the story is with them?

    Thanks!

If they're so disorganised why do you want to become a member? It sounds like if you did enrol and pass some test that you'd end up with some meaningless piece of paper, especially if the IAM in the UK have disengaged from them.

Are you really that keen on putting their sticker on your windscreen? You'd be better off signing up with the UK crowd via an address in NI.

That's strange to hear. I'm a member and renewed before Christmas (on the uk website) no problem. Aviva give you a discount on top of your no claims discount for being a member, and if you ever move to the uk, a lot of companys do it there, so it's definitely worth joining. I have no idea how much a test is these days and can't recall how much membership was either. If the founder can't help you....

How much does it cost to be a member?

I presume you have to do a safety course with them first?

The IAMI is a seperate organisation from the IAM.
The IAMI was set up by Denis Mc Bride and Tony Toner as is based soley in Ireland.

The IAM has an Irish branch which was fromed recently and has Denis Bates as its chairman,

How bloody confusing is that !

Never heard of IAMI - but I am a member of IAM - when I joined originally, maybe 8 years ago or so, Aviva gave 30% off your insurance for it.

    IAM is well recognised..............IAMI............who ??

You don't want to acknowledge that as truth because, deep down in places you don't talk about at the Green Party, you want me on that road, you need me on that road. We use words like freedom, enjoyment, sport and community. We use these words as the backbone of a life spent instilling those values in our families and loved ones. You use them as a punch line. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the tax revenue and the very freedom to spend it that I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise I suggest you pick up a bus pass and get the ********* ********* off the road”
