Renewal of learner permit A licence

I was just down at the motor tax office to renew my learner permit A licence. I was getting the A1 category added to my full B drivers licence at the same time at the tax office. However because it was my 3rd licence in category A, the woman behind the counter wanted evidence of having undergone a test in the past two years.

I gave her my cert of competency (think thats what its called) from my A1 test, which I thought would have covered this, but she wouldn't accept it (I was actually scheduled to do an A test but couldn't get a lend of a bike greater than 125cc so did it on a 125cc bike. Thus only being granted an A1 licence).

My question is, should the cert of competancy for an A1 licence count towards proof of having undergone an A category test seeing as its the exact same test?

mods I'm not sure if this is better suited to here or the motorbikes forum..

You have it right there. Seems like I'll just have to bite the bullet and fork out €85 for a test :(

Although they only want proof that I applied for a test, and I applied for the A test in order to sit the A1 test.

But I applied for the test over two years ago so that is probably of no help to me.
