O2 tethering question

    Hi guys - was trying to find the answer on boards but couldn't see it although i'm pretty sure its well covered.

    I have a 2gig data allowance on my iphone 4 with o2. Can i use this allowance for tethering my laptop to my iphone using the MiWi software? I know the new IOS has hotspot but i need my phone JB & untethered.

    If you are using MiWi you should be able to tether without any cost, unless you go over your allowence. Also depending on how old the plan is tethering might be allowed at no extra charge you will need confirmation from O2, their forum is the best place to ask as they have staff answering questions.

    I have unlimited download allowance from O2. But recently, I tethered my iPhone 3GS to my laptop for a few short sessions. I subsequently had a phone call from O2 to say that tethering is NOT covered by my 'normal' allowance and there was a bill of over €500 for the tethering usage!

    Luckily, they were very decent and agreed that it was a one-off and I hadn't been made aware of the difference and they didn't charge me in the end.

    But beware - tethering could cost you, big time!!

    you must be on the old advance plan, o2 dont offer any plans with unlimited data anymore but they include tethering now
