Just fluting around and looking at flights to Tenenife in May, some crazy flight costs from RyanAir since last night.
Example 1: Knock to Tenerife South, May11-18 Return for €49.03 (carry on bags only, payment through pre-paid mastercard)
Example 2: Shannon to Tenerife South, May12-19 Return for €67.78

Pretty similar pricing for similar dates also.

Add ~ £240 for good accommodation and you're looking at a lovely short break for two for around €200 each

Four hours on a Ryanair Flight!! Torture and Purgatory rolled into one!

Flying out of Knock or Shannon means walk in, walk on. You could spend four (far more hellish) hours between the M50 and queuing in Dublin Airport.

Nice spot, OP, must have a gander.

If anybody has any recommendations of sites/bargains for apartment, please do share :)

    Just a note of advice:
There are a lot of scams going on with apartments for rent these days.
Pictures of places that don't exist or people advertising apartments for rent that they don't own, letting to loads of people at the same time, taking deposits and disappearing etc.
I know a couple of people that got caught last year.
Make sure you look into any offers you get over the Net.

    4 flights booked....Ryanair....must be 1,000 each now ;)

I use holidaylettings.co.uk all the time and never a problem in various US/Canaries/Belaric based holidays, just wish I could be available for those dates, I'd be gone in a flash

If anyone can fly from Kerry, flight to Faro on 31st March, return 7th April for €21.98 - no taxes, free online check-in.

If only OH wasn't involved in a course that week, I'd be off like a shot!

    ;)

I havn't been caught so far (TG) but I always look at how long the owner has been advertising with the website. On Owners Direct for example it's down at the very bottom of the page.

If the owners have been advertising for over a year they should be OK. If someone didn't get what was advertised, they would be straight on to the website, who would pull the ad. The last thing they want is bad publicity for their website.

    www.onthebeach.co.uk is good.

I was looking a couple of weeks ago and I could get a week in May for daughter and I, flying from Knock to Alicante with Ryanair, 1 bed SC apartment in a complex near beach for €247 for us both. (Kids accommodation was free, so just her flights.)

Couldn't quite make that work, but got flights out on 28th April and back on 5th May for €48 return. :D

I presume ryanair flights to Tenerife South is the correct part of the Island.. I want to go to Las Americas is this the correct flight??

Yes Tenerife South is the right airport for where you are going....
Good deals also from Knock Airport too...only drawback is that the flight leaves Tenerife at 6 AM.....!! Enjoy :)

Iberostar in Costa Adeje is reliable

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 829 ✭✭✭pokerface_me

Tenerife south is correct for Las Americas and costa adeje. Taxi from airport is 20euro to adeje and las americas and will only take 4 people but you can get 7 seaters for a fiver extra.

Great little complex ive stayed in a few times is http://www.tinerfegarden.com/ , book online and payment on arrival. Right beside everything, a big shopping centre called san eugenio, lots of bars within 200 yards and beach 500 yards away. Beach is called puerto colon and is fab, 1 euro pints all day are even better. Any more info needed pm me, i have been on the Island 200+ times and know the do's and don'ts and where you will get trouble and where you won't.

Drawback will ya stop, have done this flight at least 50 times, arrive at 10am and land at your apartment 1045am, a full first day, not many travel companies offer this.

    think you misread that

On a similar vein, you should check Ryanair for Lanzarote. Only one airport on the island, so you are ending up in the same place as any charter flight. The other plus is that it is only a 10 minute, €15, taxi transfer to the holiday resorts of Puerto del Carment and Costa Teguise

I went in March with Falcon and stayed in the La Morana Apartments, €840 for the week. You can book the same apartment direct for €349 per week and return flights x 2 cost €280

Knock airport is a very nice place to travel from...especially for those of us who live in the West and North West of our country...Have a nice holiday..

I can fully recommend Mar Ola park for accommodation which is lovely and cheap and well located nearer centre of los cristianos than the tacky playa de L A. Found it on alpharooms for really cheap. Also bus to / from airport is cheap quick and regular

stay in Medano - lovely lovely town only 10 - 15 minutes from the airport. All of Playas las Americas, Fanabe, Los Criastianos etc. is a pikey / knacker / low-rent hellhole where it's impossible to get any good food any you're constantly dealing with hecklers trying to get you into pubs / restaurants which is not a holiday!

you have me worried now. i booked a wk in november staying in the iberostar in costa adeje, its myself the missus and our one year old. Is this a decent hotel/area??

I stayed in Los Cristianos 18 months ago and it is lovely for a break when the weather is grim here. If you want sun and to eat and drink inexpensively it's fine. You won't experience too much culture if that's what you're after. PdeLA is pretty tacky but you should have a nice holiday.
