Second Hand Car - New some guidance

Looking to change my car & have a budget of about €6,000. Hoping to get something in petrol, year 2005 and up with a 1.4 to 1.8l engine.

I've been advised to steer clear of Renault, Peugeot & Fiat due to frequency of problems and cost of replacements. Is that rubbish or are some brands more reliable than others? I plan on buying from a dealer.

I only need something small so no need for a massive boot or room for baby seats. Do very little mileage (less than 5000 p/a) - mainly city driving with some motorway miles.

I like the look of the Volvo c30 and the Audi A3 but they're out of my price range. Focus and Fiesta are just too dull. Any recommendations?

    Thanks a million!
