Yes I know this has the most unusual occurrence of being a thread about cycle to work and not involving bike questions! It's actually about cycling to work!

Question is this. 30km cycle to work however whats held me back thus far is the lack of a shower in the office. Anyone else caught in this predicament but actually cycle none the less? What do you use to avoid stinking the place out?

    Dear iregk,

Greetings from my office desk, I hope you are well. The weather here is nice, and I can see the clouds whizzing past...

so anyway, to answer your question: I use the sink in the toilets in work - they are single occupancy so to speak so I don't disturb/be disturbed by others. I leave a towel and shoes/trousers/jumper in work and change them when I don't cycle, leaving me with just having to include socks tshirt etc. in the bag.

Use a wash basin and don't apply anything to yourself (e.g. anti-perspirant) before you cycle - it's just more hassle to wash off and reapply.

Check your local public gym (council funded gym) if they allow shower facilities for cyclists. The objectives of most councils is to provide such facilites to cyclists and pedestrians in their plans.

I don't have a shower at the office too, need to walk like 1 km to the warehouse to take a shower. I cycle 20 km to work, usually tight on time, so sweat like a pig, trying not to be late.

20km cycle to work. I use a small sink and 2 small travel towels. One for washing, one for drying. I try not to cycle too hard on the way in.

Thanks for the answers. Not too many public gyms around my side of town. Baggott street and I didn't exactly get a great deal of offers from the private gyms around us. Pat Henry offered me a whopping €50 off the cost or standard yearly membership just to use the showers!

Are there any tax breaks to help employers install bike facilities?

Used to use the disabled toilet for the sink privacy

    Electric bike?
Power assist on the way in
no assist on the way home.
