    Hey!
My problem is, I had my interview for Jobseekers Allowance on the 10th Feb, and about three days later I got my social services card in the post.
This got my hopes up to thinking I would get a payment soon but no such luck.
I have still got no word at all about it, although I did have a missed call from my local office on Monday, in which case I rang them back straight away but did not get an answer, then rang them back literally about 25 times after, and when I eventually did get through all I got was 'I can't help sorry' and she hung up....
Has anyone else had this problem, and can anyone advise me what to do???
I cannot think of another reason for them to ring me except about my payment, but she told me I would get a letter..

Thinking of ringing them again, but it's not as if I'll even get through for hours and if I do, they are just RUDE :(

I am meant to do an authorised signing on tomorrow morning, but now I'm not sure if I still have to or not....agh

Go and sign on tomorrow, when your turn comes ask them what the story is.

In the one on King's in street they never answer; they're too busy and apparently don't like to answer phones...

If it's not too far, I think you should go down in the morning. Just go down with your card and either a passport/driver's licence/long birthcert for I.D. and explain at the reception and they'll sort you out. If you don't get any money but you're still too wait, you can go down to your local community welfare officer and hopefully they'll give you some sort of income till you get your JSA.

Finally got through after fifteen times, but they could not help so just going to go in and sign on as normal tomorrow, and hope it comes through soon, because I am getting desperate, and looking for work constantly but nothing EVER comes of it...
Does anyone know how much they deduct from your JSA a week if you get SWA?
Also, it is the Wexford office.

You will get a letter in the post when your jsa is processed. If you are supposed to sign tomorrow go down and sign. In the meantime go to your community welfare officer and apply for supplementary welfare allowance until your claim is processed.

Any money you get from swa will be deducted from any backdating from JSA. A word of advice... any jobs you do apply for keep a note of them and try to get a written reply because sw will look for your efforts to get work at some stage.

Ah I see, I thought that was done with, as my boyfriend was told he would not get backdated because of cutbacks..

If you are waiting for your JSA... and you get swa for the time that you were waiting then any money you get from swa will be paid back to swa for the period of time you were waiting for your jsa. Backdating is a different issue that is if you did not apply for jsa/jsb from you first date of unemployment that is up to the deciding officer and can be appealed if you had a good enough reason for not applying from first date of unemployment.

Oh! If I knew that I would have asked ages ago :(
    Thank you so much...
Just one more thing, does the officer give you a once off payment, or is it every week until you get your allowance, or how does it work?

The SWA will pay you every week until your JSA is awarded. You will get a letter about your JSA telling you its been awarded, and what day your first payment will be in the post office.

K signed on the other day, and haven't heard anything still..
Went into the community welfare officer today, lined up for an hour and a half, went in got given a form and kicked out again have to go back tomorrow or the next day (don't even have money to get into town) and was also told to photocopy everything as their copier is broken...how am I meant to afford to go into town several times a week, and also to get all my stuff copied when I have NO income, and I don't even know how i'm going to pay rent this week, I'm panicking so much... I explained this to him and he just looked at me and said come back another day, I am so fed up with this country, it is gone to RUBBISH :mad::mad:

Your next port of call is to get on to St Vincent De Paul , explain your situation and see can they offer you any help until you are sorted by the community welfare officer or social welfare.

oh god.. how do you even go about that, I don't think there's an office in Wexford?
    agh
it's just so angering, I need rent by Friday, and i'm trying everything I can possibly try, and no one is willing to DO THEIR JOB, and help... I apply for at least two jobs a day, more if possible, and nothing will work out.
Can't afford to emigrate, can't afford college, AGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHh

Look them up on telephone directory or google them. There will probably be a main number for Wexford.

Go back to the Community Welfare Officer and look for an Exceptional Needs Payment.
They have the ability go write you a cheque if they feel need it.
Apply for Supplementary Welfare Allowance (weekly payment while waiting for JSA) and Rent Allowance.

Have you applied for a medical card yet ? If not, you can get a form from the CWO or download one from www.hse.ie and bring it into the CWO already filled out.
