Does anyone have any experience with getting an investment from angel investors?
I'm looking to buy an existing business and need around €70,000.
Anyone know what rate of return an angel investor would look for, for this amount?

was looking at angel investor websites but you need to pay €100 to be put in touch with a potential investor.
anyone have any experience with these websites?
i've heard that similiar UK websites are full of scam artists.

"Angel Investor Groups" requesting a fee to join are a scam plain and simple.
There is very little Angel Investment going on in Ireland but you might do good to talk to a good accountant and look into the BES scheme which works on angel-type investments.
Angels are aware that they are investing at a high risk and will normally look for a 10x plus return in 5 years or so.
They also very rarely invest in someone who "simply" want to buy an existing business.

thanks a mil for the advise Mayhem.
I will look into the BES scheme and see if it is a runner for me.

Does anyone know where is the best place to look for private investors?

The business i am looking to buy is in my area of expertise and is making steady profits even during the recession so I wou;ld have thought it would be easier to get investment.

    Check out HBAN http://www.hban.org/

There are several Irish investor syndicates and it's closely linked to EI

@Boskonay "To submit an application for funding to HBAN, a €200 deposit is required from all applicants."

As said any Angel Investment network that charges a fee to join should be avoided. They invest on a for-profit basis.
    This will make good reading:

There some VC companies and Reps on linkedin. Check the Groups. You could also try and find a list of venture capital companies which would mostly be in the states and just phone them up and pitch them asking would they accept an email with your business plan. They wont ask you for 100euro :D

Irish investment network is well respected and is linked to about 50 similar organisations that send your application to investors worldwide that are interested in your industry and location.

In terms of rate of return, it depends on the risk, but I suppose 25 or 30 percent per annum, compound.
